What's Missing from this Picture?

Me and my dinghy, dangit!

Why is there nobody out there? It's blowing 12 kts and the sun is shining. Work is for suckers! Somebody get out there. Do I have to take charge again?

The really freaky thing is the shadows. If you spend a winter in the Willamette Valley, you forget about shadows for the better part of four months. I keep staring at them, trying figure out what those dark patches are, more curious than the overwhelming sunniness.

I've noticed that you've started leaving comments on your own posts, before anyone else does.

This is brilliant! It's kind of like priming the pump.

Now, you've taken this to a new level - the comment is actually longer than the post.

I'm sorry you can't be out sailing, but what I really want to know is what happened to the giant spider. Did they have to anesthetize him and relocate him to a state park, or something?

Kind of like priming the pump? Brilliant? I thought I was heading off the Peanut Gallery at the Pass. Kind of like chopping nuts.

And it failed.

OK, so you were looking for comments commiserating with you about how awful winters in Portland are, what with the no shadows, right?

Sorry, can't help you there. I could tell you how we get days of rain interspersed with warm days of sunshine which tend to cheer us up so we're not chronically depressed all winter long, but that probably wouldn't help any.

My friend lived in Portland for seven years and his solution was to build an airplane in his garage to take his mind off of the glum weather.

Maybe you could build a boat in your garage?

Hmm, I like this. Maybe we use a peanut scale? Which direction does it go, though? One peanut = helpful, or bag'o'nuts = helpful?

I think Bag O'Nuts means 'most helpful', judging from the latest comments thread over at Frogma.

What the heck are you guys talking about? Back to the original post, I would say the only thing missing from the picture is your dinghy. From recent reports, apparently you don't matter any more.
