Does almost count?

Temps hit a record 60+ degrees (I'm sure we'll pay for our sins later this month) and I saw a little 5 kt breeze blowing on the Weatherbug app on my iPhone. So, I was off to Willamette Park in the two-hour window of freedom in my afternoon.

It got breezier as I made it down to the park and prepared. I had the dinghy all setup with the stern in the water when I started getting 15 kt+ gusts.

I decided to hold off for the day, since I had a parent-teacher conference to attend.

Maybe today ...

When we had our dinghy, I took the sail to a sailmaker and had reef points put in.

At the time, I weighed 140 lbs. soaking wet and was trying to keep from getting soaking wet.

Not at all a macho thing to do, but I like to think it saved my marriage. It also made those go/no-go decisions easier to make.

If you're thinking about this, also consider that some class association rules might not allow it.

Ah, yes. A good option. There are some reef points in that main already. Now I have to figure out how to use them.
